Employee Experience
A fun and fast paced atmosphere and we have all types of jobs available. While we do hire for specific positions, we are a team oriented business so helping out in areas outside of your normal day to day is often expected. We have positions that are primarily outside, landscaping, repairs and maintenance, beach duties, etc. we also have positions more focused inside- from answering phones in reception and making reservations, to helping in the kitchen as a sous chef or dishwasher or if you are a morning person, running breakfast and baking first thing in the morning with the fresh smell of coffee. Our prime season is Memorial Day to Indigenous Peoples Day so our core staff remains on outside of those months when we start buckling the Summer cabins up for the Winter. Because of our peak season calendars, employees should be prepared for July and August blackout months in terms of vacation days unless previously agreed upon at time of employment. Our staff are expected to be self motivated and responsible as we all have a part to play in the day to day here, helping guests with whatever their needs may be and preparing for busy dinner and bar service requires self starters who need little direct oversight.
Things to Do in the Area
mountain biking, swimming, craft beers, hiking, lakes, biking, skiing, snowboarding We are within a one hour drive to Stowe Mountain Resort, Burke Mountain Resort, and Jay Peak Resort for all your downhill snow needs. In the Summer these resorts offer some primo mountain biking trails, with Kingdom Trails at Burke mountain being the most notable for the junkie! We are in a beautiful untouched area of the country that provides some great quiet hikes in the Summer, nearby lakes and rivers. Vermont State Parks does an incredible job with their campsite offerings so that is always a wonderful getaway and perfect way to explore if you love camping. We are situated right on Caspian Lake with the only beach in the town so you would have access to the beautiful and clear spring fed lake that is warm enough for swimming June-September. We are a ten minute drive to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center- known for their olympic training facilities for skulling and cross country skiing. Because of our partnership, they maintain over 130km of cross country ski trail that start right at our front door. Employees would be welcome to bring their own equipment or rent from CoC to enjoy the vast network! We also welcome snow shoes, cramp ons, and fat bikes on a good portion of the trial system. We are also in a wonderful little nugget of Vermont called the Northeast Kingdom- home to Jasper Hill Cheese, Pete's Greens, and Hill Farmstead Brewery. Our love for local craft and food producers makes for a magical partnership where we are able to feature local products on our menus and encourage guests to check out these nearby businesses. Hill Farmstead Brewery is less than a mile from us door to door, known as the best brewery in the world for the past six years, they are definitely an enticing draw for guests near and far. Less than an hour away is Stowe, which boasts breweries such as Alchemist, Idyltime, Von Trapp, and Prohibition Pig. Burlington is a great day trip for us when going to "the big city". Great for live music, drinks on the dock of Lake Champlain, shopping, and getting out and about in a city bustle. Burlington has many great restaurants and even more importantly- BREWERIES! Home to Burlington Beer Co., Foam Brewers, Zero Gravity Brewing Co., Queen City, the list continues... We are perfectly situated here to get a little taste of adventure no matter the day.
