Camp Rockmont , Asheville, North Carolina
Overview
Summer Staff – Live, Lead, and Make an Impact:
Spend your summer doing work that matters. Join a team that pours into young people, builds lifelong friendships, and creates unforgettable experiences in the mountains of Western North Carolina. If you’re looking for a role that challenges you, grows your leadership, and surrounds you with a purpose-driven and faith based community, this is it.
Position – What You’ll Do:
As a Summer Staff team member, you’ll mentor campers, lead activities, and help create a safe, energetic, and encouraging environment. We are an all boys Camp and a majority of our staff live in Cabins. Depending on your role, you may serve as a cabin counselor, lifeguard, or activity skill head. You’ll be responsible for guiding campers through daily programs, modeling strong character, and helping them grow in confidence and independence.
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and relational leaders who love working with kids and thrive in community. Ideal candidates are adaptable, team-oriented, and excited to invest deeply in others. Previous camp experience is helpful but not required.
Where You’ll Be:
You’ll live and work in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, surrounded by 500+ acres of forests, trails, and open fields. Staff typically live on property in rustic cabins with campers or in separate staff housing.
When
Our summer season runs from May 31st through August 7th. The first week is set up for staff training. Partial summer options are also available
Room and Board:
Full room and board are provided throughout the summer season, including housing and daily meals when campers are in session.
How You’ll Grow:
Staff receive hands-on leadership development, team-building training, and mentorship throughout the summer. You’ll gain practical experience in communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and servant leadership—skills that transfer far beyond camp.
Why Join Us?:
Because this is more than a summer job. It’s an opportunity to shape lives, deepen your own character, and be part of something bigger than yourself. You’ll leave with lifelong friendships, stronger leadership skills, and stories you’ll tell for years. An exciting summer job in the mountains of North Carolina with genuine people, meaningful work, and competitive pay.

Employee Experience
Most staff live in cabins with campers, so this isn't a clock-in, clock-out kind of job. You're all in all the time! This includes meals, activities, evening programs, the whole thing. But that's what makes it different. You build real relationships with the kids you're with, and you become part of something that's hard to explain until you've lived it. The community here is the best part. You'll work alongside people from all over the country who chose to be here on purpose, and those friendships tend to stick around long after the summer ends. We say that our mission for campers is GROWTH, but that also goes for our staff. A summer at camp will make you grow, whether you're looking to or not! Leadership, patience, communication, problem-solving are some of the many ways you will grow. A lot of staff say it's the hardest and best thing they've ever done. If you want a summer that actually pushes you and leaves you with something real, Rockmont has a way of delivering that.
The Perfect Fit
We're looking for college students, recent grads, and young adults in a gap year who want to do something worthwhile with their summer. The right person for this job genuinely enjoys kids and gets stoked on the opportunity to work with them. Because it can be a demanding job, the ideal candidate is energized by being around people rather than drained by it. A Christian faith background is important to us, not because you have to have it all figured out, but because our community is rooted in it, and it shapes the way we do everything here. Outdoor skills are a plus. If you can climb, kayak, swim, or lead someone through something they've never done before, we want to know about it. Experience working with kids in any capacity, such as coaching, tutoring, babysitting, or youth ministry, translates well! More than anything, we're looking for people who are adaptable, humble, and ready to show up fully for a summer. If you're the kind of person who leans in when things get hard and genuinely cares about the people around you, you'll fit right in.
Perks & Housing
Job Perks
Beyond the pay and housing, there's a lot that comes with the job. You'll have full access to camp facilities on your time off, which includes the waterfront, pickleball courts, and outdoor gear. Basically, camp becomes a playground in the mountains that most people pay good money to visit. Staff outings and trips are built into the summer, too. Last year, we took our staff to a roller coaster park in Charlotte, NC.
Housing Options
You'll live in the cabins with your campers. The cabins are rustic, think wooden bunks, screen windows, and the sounds of wind through the mountains at night.
Meal Plan
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all provided throughout the summer. You're not worrying about groceries, cooking, or feeding yourself after a long day. Just show up hungry.
Things To Do In The Area
When you've got time off, you're in one of the best spots in the country to use it. Asheville is just down the road and has great food, live music, local breweries, and enough to do that you won't run out of options all summer. The Blue Ridge Parkway is basically in your backyard, and a drive on it is spectacular. If you're into the outdoors, you've got world-class mountain biking at DuPont, climbing in Linville Gorge, kayaking on the French Broad, and more camping in Pisgah National Forrest than you could ever get through. A lot of staff say the location alone is reason enough to come.
