Why This Role Matters
As a Preschool Assistant Teacher, you’ll help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. From indoor learning moments to outdoor adventures in all kinds of weather, you’ll support children’s growth socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually—every single day.
What You’ll Do
Care for and supervise young children with safety, patience, and joy
Help implement age-appropriate curriculum and creative programming
Encourage positive behavior and model YMCA core values
Observe child development and document milestones through notes, photos, and videos
Anticipate and respond calmly to safety needs
Assist with daily routines, cleaning, and opening/closing duties
Be a flexible team player, supporting other departments when needed
What We’re Looking For
A genuine love for working with children ❤️
Positive energy, teamwork, and strong communication skills
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stay active throughout the day
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
First Aid & CPR certified (or willing to obtain)
At least 18 years old and fluent in English
Experience with children is a plus—but not required
