You May Be A Ski Town Introvert

We're about halfway through the winter seasonal job season and we've learned a lot about our new lives as ski-bums. Whether this is your first couple of months, or going on 20 years. Some things never change. You're a ski bum if.

  1. Finding an apartment was hard and expensive, and you live with four or more roommates in a two-bedroom "modest" apartment. One of your five roomies sleeps on a couch or scoots the couch out to sleep behind it in the living room for his privacy. You tiptoe by him because you need to be at the mountain by 7:00 AM for work. He's a Janitor that works at 3:00 PM. He pays just as much rent as you do. And he skis every day. You're honestly jealous, but you make sure he doesn't wake up when you're getting ready.
  2.
  3. You live in a double occupancy employee housing and you're unchosen roommate is almost someone you would consider a friend. But you can't quite get there, and you cant put your finger on why. So whenever you two are in the same room, you say "Sup, Dude" and then don't really engage at all after that beyond mutually mundane small talk. All the while contemplating why you don't click better, and completely ignore it in conversation. Very mild and mutual petty complaining to other people that barely care ensues, we've achieved nothing. But you'll like them later, and you'll find a legitimate friend from it when you separate.

  5. You've ever dreadfully woken up the same time you normally do to drive to work and noticed that the windshield is now unexpectedly caked in impenetrable ice and all you possess to scrape it off is a gift card in your wallet that grandma gave you, it might have 5$ left. You now have to race the drive to work with half the windshield barely scraped. All because you let Gary borrow the 3$ ice scraper you bought a week ago. Come on, Gary!  You don't mention it and buy another one.

4. You're roommates, and also you, we're blaming this on you too, failed to keep up on scraping the ice all the way to the bare ground during the first storm of the season. We know you thought it would be fine. We did too. Who now has to make James Bond maneuvers to go to work in the morning? All of us. Let the games begin. 5.
