The Jameson Ranch riding program is geared toward teaching safe and sound technique in saddle and bareback riding. Our more advanced riders work on horseback (herding cows and horses) and the program is directed toward teaching these work techniques. We normally divide our riders into groups for lessons as follows: beginners, advanced beginners, and intermediates. Think of your own exciting names for these levels. If riders can pass a test given by a director which demonstrates skills of control and riding ability bareback, then they are canter riders. The highest level of riders here is a group called Bushwhackers; this level is attained by taking bareback lessons in steep, rough terrain and learning how to heard stock. This group is eligible to heard horses from the second field in the early morning with one of the riding counselors. The test for this program is given by a director.
The program is usually structured with lessons and trail rides in the morning and afternoon, though some times of the week will be dedicated to long trail rides in order to help campers practice their skills and work on improvement. . The program is run 5 days a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
