Job Description

Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters, the preeminent vacation resort in Minnesota’s Northwoods, is seeking a full-time, professional front desk employee for the 2021 summer season to make our guests feel welcome and to ensure their entire vacation is a memorable experience.

We are located in the heart of the Superior National Forest between Lake Superior and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and are listed in 1,000 Places to See in the U.S. & Canada Before You Die. As part of our staff, you will have the opportunity to build on the legacy of this legendary resort on the Gunflint Trail and call this iconic vacation destination home.

Roles and Responsibilities
Open and/or close the Front Desk while being responsible for Front Desk operations
Answer telephone, email, and social media inquiries to sell rooms and book services
Monitor daily bookings and ensure assigned rooms are prepared prior to check-in
Ensure guests are properly greeted upon their arrival and provide memorable experiences for guests throughout their stay
Complete check-in and check-out procedures, including reservations and financial transactions
Promptly address guests’ requests
Actively listen to and resolve complaints
Ensure all guests receive personalized services according to individual needs
Coordinate and manage communication between guests and staff and follow up to ensure we resolve customer concerns
Inform clients of and suggestive sell available resort service
Promote all hotel amenities, conveniences and programs offered
Help to plan and spearhead teams to coordinate special events such as weddings, family reunions, and other group events
Analyze customer feedback and initiate improvements
Use of the PMS and POS
Care for retail Gift Shop, including stocking, and organizing

Job Qualifications
Proven work experience in the hospitality or guest services field
Understanding of all hotel management best practices
Hands-on experience with Hotel Management software (PMS) is a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in person, over the phone, electronic and print
Proficiency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus
Customer service drive with outstanding communication and active listening skills
Excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills
Ability to work flexible hours
Strong sense of responsibility and a professional presentation
