Description
As the Controller at Sun Mountain Lodge, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the lodge’s financial operations. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, implementing sound financial practices, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and a passion for the hospitality industry.
Preference is onsite in Winthrop, WA or hybrid within Washington state with travel to Winthrop, WA 1-2 weeks per month.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Presents reports to lodge management and ownership.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage lodge budgets, ensuring financial goals and objectives are met. Provide accurate financial forecasts to guide decision-making.
Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger. Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
Cash Management: Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and optimize working capital to meet lodge’s financial obligations.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis, including variance analysis and trend analysis, to identify opportunities for cost control and revenue enhancement.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal lodge policies. Coordinate financial audits and liaise with auditors.
Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management processes to minimize shrinkage and ensure accurate reporting.
Vendor Management: Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure favorable terms and pricing. Maintain relationships with key suppliers.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the lodge’s finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Advisory Role: Provide financial insights and recommendations to lodge management and ownership to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
Hospitality experience is required. Food and Beverage experience is preferred.
Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and financial analysis.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
