Position Title: Camps Operations Assistant
Department: Camps
Reports to: Education and Camp Programs Supervisor
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Pay: $22.20/hr

Position Summary
The Camps Operations Assistant will work with site leadership and education staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of summer programming at the designated site. The Operations Assistant will work closely with the Supply Team to support supply chain operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain supply systems for an individual camp site, including physical supplies, as well as digital resources and databases. Request additional supplies in the timely manner by communicating with Camps Supply Team.
Lead daily camp operations including set-up and tear down of signage, distributing camper lunches, and other operational needs
Assist Site Leads with daily operations like pick-up/drop-off, supervising campers, and facilitating breaks
Assist educators with administrative tasks and supply inventory in support of daily operations
Assist Site Leads with the distribution of daily camp letters to communicate program activities to families and guardians
Assist the Supply Team with supply distribution at an individual camp site
Assess risk and ensure camper safety, including responding to first aid situations. Complete incident reports when needed.
Supervise campers in Extended-Day program if scheduled
Comply with all camp procedures and other health and safety policies and supporting campers and others in the camp space with doing the same
Provide feedback and program evaluation to Camps for Curious Minds leadership
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required
Experience working with youth from grades Pre-K-8th
High School Diploma (or equivalent experience)
At least 18 years of age at the start of camp
Attending and completing training sessions before start of summer camps
First Aid/AED/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
WA State Food Handlers permit or willingness to obtain before start date
Available to work a minimum of 6-10 full weeks of the summer season depending on location placement

Past summer camp experience
Passion for science education and early childhood development
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Associate’s/Bachelor's degree or currently in pursuit
Available to work all 10 weeks of the summer season (June 22-August 28)
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
This is a temporary, full-time summer position
Due to a variety of camps and locations, hours can vary daily, typically totaling 40 hours per week during the camp season
Some camps are full day while others are half day only, this position remains full-time
A uniform t-shirt is provided and required to be worn while on the job
This position may require driving a 15-passanger van and assuming responsibility of the safety and security of all passengers
The workplace environment can vary but will typically involve the ability to travel with a group of students and staff throughout classroom, outdoor, camp, community, and museum spaces. Travel is sometimes required to accommodate various camp activities. Other physical demands of the position could include the ability to stand/walk/sit, lift 50 lbs. (lunch/material tubs - unassisted), kneel/squat/bend/reach, carry/climb (will often load, unload and carry cartloads of lesson materials and supplies), work outside in the weather including heat/cold, and exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals (liquid nitrogen, helium and hydrogen gas, dry ice, acids and bases, irritants, latex).
