Job Description

Activity leaders needed at a unique summer camp on a semi-sustainable working ranch. Jameson Ranch Camp is seeking summer camp staff to work in central California's Sierra Nevadas from June 8, 2024-August 11, 2024. Pay is $5580 for the summer with room and board provided, paid bi-weekly.

Positions are available in the following activities: Horseback Riding, Lifeguards, Vaulters, Mountain Boarders, Mountain Bikers, Orienteers, and Arts/Crafts people. We are looking for amateurs and experts to teach campers, ages 6-16, skills for life. JRC is seeking individuals who possess the following qualities:

1. Physical Strength: Candidates should have the physical strength to navigate narrow trails and walk at least 2 miles per day.

2. Skill Proficiency: We are looking for individuals who excel in the activities we focus on, with exceptions being rare.

3. Mental Capability: Prospective staff members should demonstrate the mental capacity to responsibly steward children, the community, and the land.

4. Commitment to Values: We seek individuals who share our organization's values and are dedicated to becoming part of the JRC family.

5. Flexibility: Candidates are expected to be flexible and ready to take on various roles within the organization as needed.

At JRC, both staff and campers share sleeping areas, which are designed as open-air sleeping porches. These porches offer a roof for shelter and shelving for storage. The open-air design allows for natural breezes and the opportunity for stargazing as individuals drift off to sleep.

Our shower facilities are also outdoors, utilizing solar power to provide hot water. While the stalls offer some degree of privacy, they resemble a gym-style setup rather than individual personal spaces. This communal approach to housing and amenities fosters a sense of shared experience and connection with the natural surroundings at JRC.
