The Cafe has operated on fishers for several years- this season it is under NEW OWNERSHIP! And we are so excited to build a team. We are an owner operated seasonal cafe located on Fishers Island, Ny. Our peak season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We provide quality food and drink while creating a welcoming third space. About Fishers Island: Fishers Island is part of Suffolk County, New York but is located closer to the coastline of Connecticut. The island is accessed via ferry service from New London, CT. The majority of our team is hired from the tristate area, and housing is provided on the island (at a subsidized rate). For applicants from the New London/Mystic area who plan to commute, a subsidy for ferry transport is available.
This charming New England island is unlike any other on the East Coast. Only 7 miles by 2 miles, community here is important. Everyone knows everyone, and everyone is happy about it! You’re never more than a few hundred feet from the beach. You’ll see some of the best sunsets here than anywhere. Kayak, fish, snorkel, we have it all- and we’re excited to share it with you on your days off. We are looking for community minded, passionate hospitality professionals not scared of hard work. Our staff will have many busy days, but we want them to feel like it’s worth it. We care about being a change in the industry- especially for seasonal work. Working with us- you won’t just be means to an end. You’re a person, and we care about that. We want work to be fair and challenging- all seasonal work is, yet rewarding. Our owner/chef is a passionate mentor and is willing to teach anyone who wants to learn. The owners are in the cafe daily, working alongside staff. They’re here to make a cohesive working environment and ensure a homogenous blend of personalities. We want everyone to feel welcome and respected working here. We care deeply about worker’s health: physically and mentally. We strive for 40 hour weeks, and never more than 50. All staff is apart of the weighted tip pool, like it should be. We provide two days off as well as fully covered housing on the beach!

We want passionate hospitality professionals who care about the little things. Good food, community, and hard work are first— and getting to jump in the ocean after work is just a bonus. Beach heads looking for quick beach access with little work ethic need not apply. Sorry- we’re slinging egg sandwiches all day every day. Our ideal candidate works cohesively in teams and doesn’t believe in the “I” mentally. They lead by example and bring their own unique personality to the table. We appreciate that. We want that! Food is joy, we want a happy staff and a cohesive season. If you are looking for a kitchen with a “good ole days” vibe— this is not the place for you. We care about being the change in the industry. It’s 2025- there’s room for everyone, and we don’t need to be robots to get through the day. We encourage open conversation, willingness to learn and grow, and creative input.
