At Pali Institute our mission is to introduce experiential education to young people by providing progressive learning experiences that extend far beyond classroom walls. Students will experience the thrill of seeing, touching, and learning about the environment and our impact on the world. Pali Institute is a leader in outdoor education. We are extremely proud to be the only residential outdoor education program accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC), which holds us to more than one hundred professional standards and guidelines. We are an innovative outdoor program offering educational experiences near California’s gorgeous Lake Arrowhead and San Bernardino mountains. During their field trip, students will be able to experience learning from a whole new angle.

Pali is a job where you will work hard, maybe harder than you ever have, but you will make friends that will last a lifetime. Pali Institute instructors come from all over the United States and the world, sharing a passion for education and the outdoors. Our outdoor instructors have the chance to grow and receive feedback while teaching small groups of students in our outdoor classroom. Located in the San Bernardino Mountains, Pali Institute offers a customizable outdoor education program for grades 4 – 12. Educators choose a three, four or five day program and select from over 30 class modules from three categories: Outdoor Education, Science and Leadership.

Pali Instructors come from all over the US and abroad with a variety of background and interests. The majority of our staff join our team as a way to take their experiences as a summer camp counselor or administrator and transition into a career in the outdoor field. Employing people with a variety of interests and backgrounds creates an atmosphere of growth and learning among staff and contributes to the experience of students. We look for staff that are: Experienced working with children, ideally in the camping and/or experiential education fields. Able to have fun with kids, laugh at themselves and be silly! Passionate about Science, Outdoor Education and/or Leadership Development. Comfortable and confident teaching and instruction small and large groups of students. Willing to learn and grow through constructive feedback. Have excellent written and oral communication skills.

We have 9 off-site houses that we use for our staff housing. They range is size from 3 bedrooms to 7 bedrooms, these means you could be living with anywhere from 9 other people to 15. These houses are located right in the town of Running Springs, the longest potential commute to work you could have is about 6 minutes. In your bedroom you will have a roommate, you may be in a room with 2-4 people.

It’s also a great state for road trips because you can experience different sides of California in just a two- or three-day trip. During the work week Monday-Friday we provided 3 meals a day Monday-Thursday, With only Breakfast and Lunch provided on Fridays. Our menu rotates monthly so it will change up a bit month to month. You will be receiving and eating these meals in our dining hall.
If you have been living in an RV/CAMPERVAN, it is very likely that we will have a spot for you to park in onsite while you are staying here in our offsite housing. If this is a deciding factor for you please reach out to us so we can figure out if we definitely have a spot for you.
