A quality outdoor residential camp experience.
Camp Morty is a free residential camp for children 6-16 in Westchester County, NY receiving services through the Department of Social services. This includes foster care, child protective services, and government funded healthcare. Camp Morty is a program run by Westchester Parks Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting and advocating for the 18,000 acres of green spaces in the Westchester County Park system. Located in North Salem, NY, Camp Morty offers a customized camp experience using trauma-informed care and a social emotional learning model to over 500 campers a summer.Staff and campers benefit from a culturally diverse and representative team of counselors and leadership both on-site and in virtual settings. Internship credit is available for applicable school courses.

The summer camp season lasts around 8 weeks, from Mid June - Mid August. Your first week is an in-depth staff orientation at Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem, NY. Training includes trauma-informed care, mandated reporting training, behavior management, teambuilding, lesson-planning, and more. Camp Morty runs 6 1-week sessions and staff have off every weekend from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. Staff live in yurts with campers split by age and gender. Ages range from 6-16 years old. Staff are expected to both engage in activities with campers and lead/facilitate programs depending on job role. Campers participate in swim lessons everyday and staff are expected to get in the lake with campers. Staff receive time off each day including one meal off. Depending on COVID-19 restrictions and regulations, Camp Morty may be run virtually this summer. 1 Virtual job openings will be discussed during the application and interview process
Employees have access to over 1,000 acres of County Park grounds including trails at their disposal. Staff may also receive free admission to Rye Playland upon COVID-19 openings.
The ideal Camp Morty staff is someone who sees a need and fills it. They are socially conscious, believe in teaching youth life skills like conflict resolution, restorative justice, and sustainable practices. They will be enthusiastic and willing to take on responsibilities. The ideal candidate is socially and/or culturally representative of our demographic.

Staff will live in yurts with staff. Detached bathhouse, dining hall, and laundry facilities are also on the property. Staff are expected to live and take meals on the grounds.
Lots of hiking opportunities! Camp Morty is also located approximately 1 hour from NYC by train. We are also 5 minutes from the CT border.
3 meals a day provided for free. 2 meals a day are taken with campers. 1 meal a day is taken in staff area.
CamperVan space available on-site for free. This option is only available for kitchen staff.
