Spend your summer shaping unforgettable camp experiences at Camp Chief Ouray, part of YMCA of the Rockies. As a Cabin Counselor – Target Sports, you’ll live, lead, and grow alongside a small group of campers—creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment where confidence, friendships, and life skills thrive.
This role is perfect for someone who loves working with youth, enjoys being outdoors, and wants their work to have real purpose.
What You’ll Do
Live with and care for a cabin group of 8–10 campers, ensuring their physical, social, and emotional well-being
Partner closely with a co-counselor to provide exceptional supervision, leadership, and mentorship
Plan, organize, and safely lead one or more activity classes each week, including Target Sports
Create a welcoming, inclusive space where every camper feels safe, supported, and valued
Support all-camp activities, contribute to a positive camp culture, and assist other departments as needed
Maintain cabin and camp cleanliness and report maintenance concerns promptly
Participate in staff training and assume one weekend of camp responsibilities during the summer
Who You Are
At least 18 years old
Passionate about working with youth and building positive relationships
Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
Patient, adaptable, and committed to excellent customer service
CPR/First Aid certified—or willing to obtain certification
Prior camp or youth program experience preferred (but not required)
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Work Environment
Active, hands-on role working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
Hiking on rugged terrain and participating fully in camp life
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work in physically dynamic environments
