Compensation - All meals provided during expeditions. Paid weekly rates start at $467.50/week but increase with additional experience, specializations, and certifications. Read more about our compensation structure here.
In this role you will
Co-lead groups of up to 13 campers in age and developmentally appropriate instruction with outdoor activities including rock climbing, Leave No Trace principles, and teambuilding.
Set top ropes and releasable rappels without supervision; Gear management, inventory, and daily inspection
May be asked to co-lead other overnight camp programs from time to time (training will be provided!)
Organize and participate in camp programming, ranging from outdoor sports to camp games and rituals
Follow and educate campers on safety protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants
Serve as a role model and guide campers by exhibiting appropriate behavior, attitudes, and activities
Provide exceptional customer service to parents and all participants in our programs.
If you are a trained Driver, transport up to 13 campers to and from program areas with company passenger vans.
Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of camp for all positions
Must be at least 20 years of age by the start of camp to qualify for a driver position.
+1 years of experience working with kids in a professional or volunteer setting preferred
Personal and/or professional climbing experience required; will be assessed on the following technical skills: trad climbing, building anchors (both traditional and natural), top rope, a variety of climbing knots, and setting up rappels
Minimum Basic First Aid & CPR certification by the start of camp (and we can point you in the right direction to get this done) A Wilderness First Aid certification is required to work at Camp Windy Peak.
Work Schedule
Overnight camps are a 24/7 operation. The leadership team will create a schedule that provides you with time off throughout each session. This will typically include an extended daily break, 24 hours off per session, and the weekend, (Friday evening to Sunday morning), between each session.
Mandatory training begins May 17. Our overnight camp programs run from June 1 through August 1.
