Pontoon/Boat Captain

Job Description

Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters, the preeminent vacation resort in Minnesota’s Northwoods, is seeking a Pontoon Captain for the summer 2021 season to share the Northwoods beauty with guests and to ensure their entire vacation is a memorable experience.

We are located in the heart of the Superior National Forest between Lake Superior and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and are listed in 1,000 Places to See in the U.S. & Canada Before You Die. As our Pontoon Captain, you will have the opportunity to build on the legacy of this legendary resort on the Gunflint Trail and call this iconic vacation destination home.

Roles and Responsibilities
Captain private charters as well as scheduled pontoon cruises involving catered food and beverages on Gunflint Lake (Groups ranging from 2-12 people)
Share lake and nature information with guests to create an immersive experience
On pontoon cruises involving food, this person will be responsible for food distribution to guests (with large groups, a server will join the cruise to aid in this area)
May be asked to filet the fish caught on private pontoon excursions
Ensure all guests are aware of all safety and practical information for each pontoon experience
Prepare the pontoon before each activity and breakdown at the end of the day
Clean and maintain each of the pontoons at Gunflint Lodge

Job Qualifications
Prior professional boating experience
Appropriate Minnesota and or Coast Guard licensing
Customer service drive with outstanding communication and active listening skills
Excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills
Ability to work flexible hours
Strong sense of responsibility and a professional presentation
