What will you do in this job?
Assists with managing the daily maintenance, landscaping and repair of Lodge property and equipment while maintain a safe environment for guests and employees. Reports to the Maintenance Manager the overall energy efficient operation of all Lodge equipment and ensure proper preventative maintenance of Lodge property.
Provides guidance and tools to encourage staff’s engagement, successfulness and effectiveness.
Actively supervises a diverse staff responsible for maintenance, landscaping and janitorial
Responsible for developing, maintaining and implementing training for safety standards
Perform standard daily lodge usage and safety checks
Respond to or delegate maintenance requests in a timely manner
Communicate daily with front desk and respond to immediate needs
Follow all safety guidelines and precautions, including use of all tools and equipment and chemicals
Oversee and manage the maintenance of grounds and landscaping, following the Lodge standards
Continually evaluate and initiate improvements to procedures and processes that increase efficiency and save man-hours
What skills and experience do you need for this job?
Ability to work independently, in a team environment and with minimal supervision
Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment; ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to be empathetic with respect to guests’ and staffs’ needs and problems
Ability to work closely with all levels of the Alaska Collection staff and management and the general public, including professionals and executives from a variety of companies
Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
Working knowledge of maintenance and safety standards and requirements in the hotel industry
Must be able to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basiC
High School Diploma or GED required
Training in general mechanical, boiler maintenance, plumbing, construction and electrical maintenance preferred
5 years experience on building maintenance
2 years supervisory experience; or any combination of training and experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities
Must be 21 years of age
Must have a valid US Driver’s License with clean driving record
